Senior Civil Supervisor

The Senior Craft Supervisor reports to the Craft Area Superintendent and is responsible for coordinating and supervising all craft-related activities on site. This includes overseeing one or more Supervisors leading teams within a specific construction discipline (civil, structural, piping, etc.). The role ensures effective leadership, high-quality execution, and close control of subcontractors’ work, in collaboration with discipline Supervisors.

Main Responsibilities

  • Possess a solid understanding of the full work scope, expected workload, and relevant project specifications and drawings related to a specific discipline (mechanical, civil, electrical, or instrumentation).
  • Assign work areas to Supervisors under your leadership, clearly defining their responsibilities and holding them accountable—especially in terms of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) performance.
  • Supervise and mentor Supervisors to ensure safe, accurate, and timely execution of the work.
  • Guarantee all tasks are completed in compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
  • Monitor the discipline work schedule and coordinate resource mobilization (labor, materials, equipment) according to the available work fronts (drawings and material release), in collaboration with the Project Control team. Where AWP (Advanced Work Packaging) is used, oversee the distribution of CWPs to Supervisors and Contractors.
  • Ensure that craft personnel meet safety program expectations and technical skill requirements. Address non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Organize on-site technical workshops, practical demonstrations, or toolbox talks to enhance team competencies.
  • Implement a rolling three-week lookahead schedule in coordination with the Superintendent and Planning Team, and develop a detailed weekly execution plan aligned with this forecast.
  • Review progress, work fronts, and resource allocation daily and weekly alongside the Superintendent and subcontractors, identifying and addressing potential risks to safety, quality, or timelines. Propose corrective actions and follow up with site leadership.
  • Track and report daily progress of installation and erection works to the Construction Superintendent.
  • Ensure preparation and implementation of Method Statements, Job Hazard Analyses, Risk Assessments, and Mitigation Plans for all discipline works.
  • Verify the conformity of received materials with project specifications and ensure proper storage and maintenance. Oversee inventory management for materials and spare parts.
  • Ensure subcontractors maintain proper housekeeping standards across the site.
  • Verify that prefabrication and erection equipment provided by subcontractors is adequate and in good working condition.
  • Coordinate preparations for pre-commissioning activities with QC Inspectors and the relevant Construction Superintendent.
  • Support client audits by gathering, analyzing, and providing necessary information related to discipline work activities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Craft Area Superintendent.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bac+2/3 in a technical trade or equivalent.
  • Preferred Profile: Cross-disciplinary experience with strong technical knowledge of the assigned trade.
  • Global Experience: Less than 3 years.
  • Specific Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a similar supervisory role within construction projects in the mining, petrochemical, or chemical industries.
