Senior Commissioning Specialist

Reporting to: Commissioning Manager / Project Management

Job Purpose

The Senior Commissioning Specialist is responsible for managing the commissioning phase of construction projects, ensuring all activities comply with company policies and project requirements. This role ensures timely delivery of commissioning tasks that meet engineering standards and quality specifications. The Specialist supervises commissioning teams and contractors throughout the project lifecycle and leads the successful handover to the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and actively communicate the safety commitment that zero accidents is the only acceptable outcome for all work performed.
  • Participate in and produce deliverables for the Completion/Commissioning Readiness Review (CRR4). Lead the implementation and replication of JSTEPS processes across all project areas to maximize efficiency and benefit.
  • Oversee personnel, contractors, vendors, and licensors to ensure all commissioning work complies with contractual obligations, project plans, and applicable standards.
  • Foster teamwork and trust among suppliers, contractors, client project teams, and operations personnel.
  • Build strong, transparent relationships with clients to facilitate prompt issue resolution.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the commissioning specialists under your supervision, including performance reviews, timesheet management, mobilization, and demobilization activities.
  • Develop and promote best practices by establishing and implementing processes for turnover, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and preservation, taking into account contractual requirements, project and construction schedules, reliability, maintenance, materials management, and change management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Engineering degree and/or Construction diploma.
  • Global Experience: Less than 10 years.
  • Specific Experience: Diverse experience across construction projects and different project types.
