Senior Mechanical Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Senior Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising all mechanical construction activities on-site. This role includes oversight of one or more supervisors leading craft teams specialized in mechanical installation and erection. The position requires close collaboration with subcontractors and supervisors to ensure high standards of safety, quality, and performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities

  • Understand the full scope of mechanical works, including workload, specifications, drawings, and project deliverables.
  • Allocate mechanical work areas to discipline supervisors, define responsibilities, and monitor performance, particularly in HSSE compliance.
  • Supervise and guide mechanical supervisors to ensure accurate, safe, and timely execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Ensure that all mechanical activities comply with quality norms, engineering specifications, and client requirements.
  • Monitor the work schedule and mobilization of resources (manpower, tools, materials) in coordination with project control. If AWP is used, manage the distribution of CWPs to supervisors and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance of mechanical works with safety regulations and skill requirements; initiate corrective measures when needed.
  • Organize technical workshops or on-site demonstrations for supervisors, and conduct toolbox talks for craft teams to enhance skills.
  • Implement the 3-week look-ahead schedule with the input of the Superintendent and Planning team, and prepare a detailed weekly work execution plan.
  • Monitor and review daily/weekly mechanical progress, resource deployment, and work fronts with subcontractors and the Superintendent. Address any safety, quality, or schedule issues and recommend solutions.
  • Report daily installation/erection progress to the Construction Superintendent.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of method statements, risk assessments, job hazard analysis, and mitigation plans for mechanical works.
  • Verify that all received mechanical materials conform to specifications and that storage and handling are appropriate.
  • Enforce good housekeeping practices on-site through subcontractor teams.
  • Check that mechanical prefabrication and erection equipment are suitable and in good working condition.
  • Oversee preparations for mechanical pre-commissioning activities in collaboration with QC Inspectors and the Construction Superintendent.
  • Support client audits by providing accurate information and documentation related to mechanical activities.
  • Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Craft Area Superintendent.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bac+2/3 in Mechanical or Technical Trade
  • Preferred Background: Cross-disciplinary experience and strong mechanical technical knowledge
  • Global Experience: Less than 3 years
  • Specific Experience: At least 3 years in mechanical supervision roles on industrial construction projects such as mining, petrochemical, or chemical plants
